Well, friends and family...my last chemo was Thursday, Feb 21...WHOO HOO!

And...I continue to feel pretty good, albeit a little tired, but still good, all things considered. Praise the Lord!

I now have a little break for my body to recover from the chemo, and will do my "simulation" for radiation on March 6; then tentatively start radiation March 11, and will see the Radiation Oncologist again on March 12, who should have some final dates regarding my treatment. The radiation will be every day Mon-Fri, for approximately 6 weeks (instead of 7 weeks...yippee!).

The time is going by fairly quickly; however, I am ready to be back home and into my old routine. We all might think that we would not like to have a routine, but, believe me, I have realized that a routine is good - I hope to never take it for granted again!

Thank you all for your continued prayers...the prayer request is still for continued strength for my body, and wisdom for the radiologist and tech's at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
Rod and I continue to appreciate you all...your friendship...your support...your continued prayers -- please keep them up, they continue to be answered.

Other tidbits:
* My hair is still pretty "peachy" these days, but that's okay. I don't even wear a hat anymore. :)
* I did not get the red rash or "itches" as a side effect from the Taxol chemo. Yea!
* Still have some "thermostat" problems. Boo.
* Taste buds are doing good these days. (No big surprise, huh?!)
* The weather here in Houston is still good. (Hey, you have to take the "good", along with the "bad"!)

Well, until the end of radiation and the final update -- farewell for now.

Blessings to all...

I thought "how appropriate this was" to read in my Daily Walk Bible, on my last chemo treatment February 21:
A season in the wilderness does something interesting for a tree -- it causes the roots to go deeper in search of life-giving moisture. And the result is a stronger tree that is better able to weather the storms of life.
The same is true of the man or woman of God who faces the hot blast of desert like conditions. What may at first glance appear to be barren, fruitless days on the "backside of God's blessing" may, in fact, be preparing you for days of great fruit bearing just ahead. Wilderness times will come -- expect them! But don't allow the heat to make you bitter or disobedient toward God. "So let endurance grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything" (James 1:4).
The tragedy of the book of Numbers is not that the nation went through the wilderness, but that though disobedience they camped there so long.
By the way, where are you camped these days?

This will help me to focus on all the blessings in my life, through this breast cancer, as well as through the rest of my life. I do feel like I have grown even stronger in my life, and my faith. And, each of you have touched me in this journey, in one way or another, so thank you!

No comments:

From a recent commentary in my my Daily Walk Bible, NLT.
Today God offers his love and mercy, but there is coming a day when his wrath and judgment will pour down upon all who have ignored his invitation. That means you if you have spurned his offer of salvation in Jesus Christ. That means your unsaved family members and friends. And that means there is no better time than now to warn those you love of the peril they face by continuing in their unbelief. Can you afford to wait?

Prayer from the Billy Graham site (
http://www.billygraham.com/) and there is a great video on this site:

How to Pray:

Dear Lord Jesus,
I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as Lord and Savior. In Jesus' name. Amen.

God's Assurance: His Word
If you prayed this prayer, The Bible says ..."Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. " — Romans 10:13 (NIV)

Did you sincerely ask Jesus Christ to come into your life? Where is He right now? What has He given you?
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." — Ephesians 2:8,9 (NIV)

Receiving Christ, we are born into God's family through the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit who indwells every believer. This is called regeneration, or the "new birth." This is just the beginning of a wonderful new life in Christ.

To deepen this relationship you should:
1. Read your Bible everyday to know Christ better.
2. Talk to God in prayer every day.
3. Tell others about Christ.
4. Worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is preached.
5. As Christ's representative in a needy world, demonstrate your new life by your love and concern for others.
