Well, friends and family...my last radiation was today, April 21. AWESOME!
I have a few more appointments at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston this week to finish up, then heading home on Saturday. Rod will fly from KC to Houston Thursday evening, we will pack the van on Friday, then head back to Overland Park on Saturday morning. It will be so nice to get home! However, I must say it will be bittersweet. Though I can't wait to be with my wonderful husband, back in my own home, and back to work on May 19, etc., I have grown to love Houston (and Texas) and the wonderful people I have been blessed to meet here. (But everyone says that I haven't encountered the summers in Houston, and it is not pleasant! So…they advise that I am "getting out" at a good time.) : ) There are too many people to mention here by name, but want to mention two couples who have impacted our lives. Robert & Lorene Williams…who have been just awesome…from opening an extension of their home (the apartment I have been staying in), and extending many, many, many, other kindnesses. It was a pleasure and a privilege to get to know them and spend time with them. Another couple is Dave & Darlene Wyatt, who have also been most kind and supportive to me and Rod. Again, a pleasure and a privilege to spend time with them.
Thank you all for your prayers, thoughts and well wishes during these past few months (June 2 is when it all started with the abnormal mammogram). Rod and I have prayed for each of you often also.
I continue to feel that this "journey thru cancer" has helped me to focus on all the blessings in my life and here are just a few reminders to myself:
* Never take "the routine" for granted.
* Remember that everyone has their own set of prayers requests in their life; however, we may never know what those are. And...that is okay, but pray for others anyway.
* Enjoy each and every day, life, family and friends to the fullest. We are never guaranteed another day, and should be prepared.
* Continue to grow even stronger in my faith. (I have found that regardless of where we are, there is always room to be stronger.) I loved what the pastor said in church last Sunday...we should all pray for a deeper, greater love in Christ. Then everything will fall in line…we will become a better person, husband, wife, friend, worker, son, daughter, etc. Psalm 51:17 The sacrifice you want is a broken spirit. A broken and repentant heart, O God, you will not despise. (God can bend and mold us. Sometimes it hurts, but He knows how the "new" us will be.)
Other tidbits:
* My hair is still growing back…it is still very short, but growing!
* And my eye lashes are growing back in too. ;)
* My post-chemo side effects have not gotten any worse.
Finally, as I have said before, and truly mean, each of you have touched me (and Rod) in this journey, in one way or another, so thank you very much!
Rod and I continue to appreciate you all...your friendship…your love...your support...your prayers.
I plan to continue the "blog" for a few months in case you'd like to check it out.
Blessings to all… I hope to see as many of you as possible in person very soon!

From a recent commentary in my my Daily Walk Bible, NLT.
Today God offers his love and mercy, but there is coming a day when his wrath and judgment will pour down upon all who have ignored his invitation. That means you if you have spurned his offer of salvation in Jesus Christ. That means your unsaved family members and friends. And that means there is no better time than now to warn those you love of the peril they face by continuing in their unbelief. Can you afford to wait?
Prayer from the Billy Graham site (http://www.billygraham.com/) and there is a great video on this site:
How to Pray:
Dear Lord Jesus,
I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as Lord and Savior. In Jesus' name. Amen.
God's Assurance: His Word
If you prayed this prayer, The Bible says ..."Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. " — Romans 10:13 (NIV)
Did you sincerely ask Jesus Christ to come into your life? Where is He right now? What has He given you?
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." — Ephesians 2:8,9 (NIV)
Receiving Christ, we are born into God's family through the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit who indwells every believer. This is called regeneration, or the "new birth." This is just the beginning of a wonderful new life in Christ.
To deepen this relationship you should:
1. Read your Bible everyday to know Christ better.
2. Talk to God in prayer every day.
3. Tell others about Christ.
4. Worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is preached.
5. As Christ's representative in a needy world, demonstrate your new life by your love and concern for others.
