Good news...

I went back to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas last Friday for a follow-up. The visit went great. The mammograms were clear, and the radiologist and oncologist gave me a clean bill of health. ;) Yippee! I will go back in 4 months for a follow-up. Praise the Lord, for this news, and so much more...He has surely been good to me. Many prayers have been positively answered.

We had to "re-arrange" our plans the day prior to our scheduled departure on Thursday, Sept 18...we confirmed that M.D. Anderson was finally taking patients again for my Friday appointment, but our hotel was closed by the Fire Marshall, due to the hurricane damage, and will not reopen until September 24, the rental car agency said they had a car for us, but gas was extremely hard to get (have to wait sometimes 1-2 hours), and Southwest only departs to Houston between 9 am-6 pm CT (and our flight was scheduled for 7:35 am CT). So, we had to change flights, stay with friends (Robert & Lorene Williams - who we rented the little apartment from during my treatment), and Robert Williams picked us up at the airport, and also took us back, as well as gave us their second car to drive to the medical facility on Friday. Whew...but we are glad we were able to go and get that follow-up visit behind us! Special thanks to Robert & Lorene...to the rescue again...they are the best!

Houston is still digging out of the hurricane debris...there are a LOT of limbs down EVERYwhere. Most traffic signals are still out, and still about 1/2 of the city is without power. (And it is starting to heat back up there.) Even with all this, the people all seem to be coping, and are helping each other out, and spirits seem to be okay. As I heard on the national news station Thursday, they were saying that Houston (and all of Texas, as well as the nation) helped out the Katrina victims, now it is every one's turn to help them (Texas hurricane victims - Galveston and some little islands around there were very hard hit). On the flight back from Houston to KC on Saturday there was a large group of hurricane relief volunteers going back to Oklahoma City (power lineman, and nurses)...they had been there a week to help out. We need to remember to keep the current hurricane victims, etc. in our thoughts and prayers.

While we were in Houston we also met a nice couple, Mary & Gary Petty. They were also staying with the Williams as their house a couple blocks away did not have electricity. They also have a place they bought about 60 days ago at Tiki Island, near Galveston. Luckily, the damage was not structurally damaging though.

We also got to meet the couple that is in Robert & Lorene's apartment now, as the gentleman is undergoing treatment for prostrate cancer at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. They were very nice. We wish them all the best.

Hope you are off to a great week. Until next time.... May God bless you all.

From a recent commentary in my my Daily Walk Bible, NLT.
Today God offers his love and mercy, but there is coming a day when his wrath and judgment will pour down upon all who have ignored his invitation. That means you if you have spurned his offer of salvation in Jesus Christ. That means your unsaved family members and friends. And that means there is no better time than now to warn those you love of the peril they face by continuing in their unbelief. Can you afford to wait?

Prayer from the Billy Graham site (
http://www.billygraham.com/) and there is a great video on this site:

How to Pray:

Dear Lord Jesus,
I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as Lord and Savior. In Jesus' name. Amen.

God's Assurance: His Word
If you prayed this prayer, The Bible says ..."Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. " — Romans 10:13 (NIV)

Did you sincerely ask Jesus Christ to come into your life? Where is He right now? What has He given you?
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." — Ephesians 2:8,9 (NIV)

Receiving Christ, we are born into God's family through the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit who indwells every believer. This is called regeneration, or the "new birth." This is just the beginning of a wonderful new life in Christ.

To deepen this relationship you should:
1. Read your Bible everyday to know Christ better.
2. Talk to God in prayer every day.
3. Tell others about Christ.
4. Worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is preached.
5. As Christ's representative in a needy world, demonstrate your new life by your love and concern for others.
